TripRecorder

So the application still needs some polishing before it's ready for the market, but I think you'll agree it produces some great footage!

Time laps videos

I've been messing around with developing an application for Android to produce a time laps recording of the Rally.

The program is called TripRecorder, and it's in a very early alpha stage, but here are a couple of example outputs.

It works in theory, just need to mess around with the settings.

MOT Passed!

We finally have a car with an MOT!
I've also insured and taxed it and have been driving it around Wiltshire and Berkshire to try to identify any ugly surprises, so far so good though.

This weekend the car is due to be decorated, pictures to follow!

Team Members - Johan

My name is Johan,

This is also my first rally and I'm very much looking forward to it!
With 8 days to go I still have a lot of work to do, but I think I've successfully delegated it the rest of the team members!

Thanks to everyone for their donations so far, they're very much appreciated after all its a very worthwhile charity.

See you all on the start line!

MOT Failed!

It wasn't that big of a surprise, but the Mondeo failed it's MOT

The list wasn't to bad;
Missing anti roll bar

Cracked steering oil cooler

This week will be spent getting parts together and fitted ready for the retest, lets hope it passes this time!

Pending MOT

Well that time has come and enough overtime worked to put the beast through it's MOT, I've been keeping it ticking over but unfortunately it seems to be pissing power steering fluid and it looks like the cooling radiator will need replacing!
Fingers crossed that this is the only work that needs doing!
We've also booked our ferry crossing thanks to Sue's excellent find so will be crossing Thursday evening after work, unfortunately this means we may need to check in Friday morning

Prequel - What is the Scally Rally?

Well I guess I should have started out by explaining exactly what the Scally Rally is;

It's a banger rally organised by our friends over at http://www.scallyrally.co.uk/, the particular one that we will be partaking in is the European rally, which starts on the 16th Septemeber in Calais (A), then stops in Basil (B), Como (C), Cortina (D), and finally ending in Rimini (E) on the 19th.

View Larger Map
From here we will be making our way back home, hopefully if time allows stopping in on a few family and friends.

For more information about this route check out the scally rally Europe page

De-molding

So the mondeo has seen better days, after standing during the past couple of very cold weeks the battery died, the brakes seized and mold grew everywhere!
After a morning of hard work, I jumped the engine, liberally applied wd40 to the breaks and went to town on the inside with house hold cleaners. I even bought a de-humidifier to stop it molding up again.
So without further adieu, here it is, the beast....

The Beast

Out of literally one selection we have found our golden egg... other wise known as a gold Ford Mondeo. I can't remember the year, model or engine size, but I do know it turns over and that's always a good thing, and it was ours for the princely sum of £75.

Photos to follow!
